The Jerusalem First Station Complex is one of the few public buildings constructed in the city during the Ottoman period. The station was inaugurated in 1892, when the railway line from Jaffa to Jerusalem was opened.

The Jerusalem First Station Complex is one of the few public buildings built in the city during the Ottoman period. The station was inaugurated in 1892 with the launch of the Jaffa–Jerusalem railway line.
The original station building resembles passenger station buildings that were constructed in Europe and Turkey in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. In Jerusalem’s 1968 Master Plan, the building was listed among 110 sites and monuments selected for preservation.
The Ariel Municipal Company manages the southern section of the First Station complex.
The railway compound has undergone extensive renovations to make it suitable for alternative and unique summer events.
In recent years, the old railway station has hosted concerts, fairs, and festivals.
